Fertility

Natural Fertility

Fertility is a common reason people choose to seek the help of Chinese medicine. I combine acupuncture & herbal medicine with practical and grounded lifestyle advice to enhance fertility and create an optimum environment for conception to occur.  I focus on your whole body and mind throughout our work together on your fertility, to not only optimise your chance of conception, but to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Fertility acupuncture and Chinese herbs are focused on facilitating blood flow to the reproductive organs, improving the endometrial lining, regulating hormones and reducing stress. As well as general preparation for conception, I see people who have endometriosis, PCOS, recurrent miscarriage, or unexplained infertility.

If you have any previous tests or imaging, please bring them along to your first session so that we can take them into consideration.

IVF & IUI

I work in consultation with your Western medicine practitioners and specialists in order to provide you with the most professional care and the best results.  It is common for couples to seek support leading up to and during IVF and IUI cycles.

I welcome people of all genders and sexual orientations into the clinic to seek care in relation to fertility, conception and parenting (in fact, for any health complaint!). LGBTQI and gender diverse people are welcome in my practice.

Chinese Medicine and Research

There is some emerging evidence around acupuncture and IVF, however unfortunately there is not a lot of high quality studies on natural fertility and Chinese medicine.  For more detail on research, see my FAQ page.

A systematic review by Qian Y et al, 2016, found that acupuncture improves pregnancy rates when carried out in the stimulation phase of IVF cycle while follicles are still growing.

Shen C et al, 2015, in their systematic review and meta-analysis found that there was no significant advantage to receiving acupuncture at the time of embryo transfer alone, but acupuncture during the stimulation phase and/or implantation phase in addition to the time of transfer showed significant improvement in pregnancy rates.
